The Future of Zero Buildings: blending design, engineering, and innovation at Oxford
In an event co-hosted with Engineers Without Borders, the ZERO Institute’s Jesus Lizana will talk about the vital role of engineering in driving the building services sector towards a sustainable net zero future.
Date & Time: Thursday 6th March 2025, 7PM
Where: Oriel College, Harris Lecture Theatre
This talk will explore the vital role of engineering in driving the building services sector towards a sustainable net zero future. Aimed at engineering students interested in building services engineering and consultancy, the session will highlight new teaching courses and opportunities within the Master of Engineering (MEng) programme at the University of Oxford to help you develop and consolidate your skills in this growing field. The talk will highlight key examples of innovation in building engineering at Oxford and abroad, including groundbreaking research on zero-carbon heating and cooling. We will also celebrate the launch of the University of Oxford Student Branch at the ZERO Institute, a dynamic platform bringing together undergraduate and graduate students to compete in the ASHRAE European Net Zero Building Design Competition. This year’s challenge —designing a zero-carbon data centre— presents an exciting opportunity for the Oxford ZERO Institute team to showcase their innovation and strive for success.
