Dr. Amr Suliman is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Building Services Engineering in the Department of Engineering Sciences, working on the future of ZERO Building project to develop pathways for net-zero building stock. He previously researched building energy demand and indoor environmental quality perception at Oxford’s Environmental Change Institute, focusing on the impact of flexible working post-pandemic.
Dr. Suliman also holds a research associate role at Loughborough University, exploring net-zero energy buildings from a global perspective, including local contexts and construction and local practises. His PhD focused on optimising hydronic systems and developing a non-intrusive diagnostic tool using infrared thermography. His expertise spans building energy monitoring, occupant-building interaction, retrofit performance, and sustainable energy systems. Dr Suliman also contributes to teaching and supervises research projects in net-zero buildings, energy performance evaluation and optimisation of heating systems.
Away from academic contributions, he is highly involved in professional bodies such as ASHRAE (American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering) currently serving as the president of the UK chapter and part of a number of technical committees contributing to industry guidelines and standards.
